In less than two pages, please respond to one of the following prompts:

Prompt 1: Active Transportation and Economic Competitiveness

Evaluate how enhancing active transportation infrastructure (walking paths, cycling networks, micro-mobility) might influence Middle Tennessee’s economic competitiveness by attracting young professionals, entrepreneurs, and innovative businesses to the region.

Discuss specific economic benefits, such as improved workforce health, lower business costs, talent attraction, and regional branding.

Prompt 2: Active Transportation and Quality of Life

Analyze how integrating active transportation networks across Middle Tennessee could enhance the overall quality of life, lower the cost of living, and foster greater regional collaboration. In your essay, propose innovative approaches local governments and businesses could take to finance and promote these improvements without significantly increasing taxes.

Explore funding mechanisms, incentive programs, innovative financing, and the role of business and educational leaders in advocating these initiatives.
